Sharing my Heart...

There is nothing I hate more than to hear a woman say to me "Your so creative. I could never do that." It breaks my heart. You see I spent most of my life believing the lie of " You can't and You aren't" You aren't talented, smart, pretty, funny, creative enough. You're not good enough. I spent most of my life sitting on the sidelines because I was so afraid to fail or be laughed at.

Thankfully, I have been incredibly blessed to have family and friends who have encouraged me, and helped me to finally understand who I am in Christ. And the closer my relationship with God became the more I started to realize how many women hear those lies....I couldn't believe I wasn't the only one.

So my point is I opened my Etsy shop, not because I wanted to be a business woman, but because I wanted to share my ideas and designs with people, and everyone keep telling me I should sell my dresses etc. So I listened to them even though that wasn't really what I wanted to do. I actually check my etsy more for hearts than sales. And I have known in my heart that what I really wanted was to share my love of crafting and sewing, but I am embarrased to say I just kept thinking about the money I could make. But finally this morning, I have decided to follow my heart.

I am going to keep my etsy shop up because we have a wonderful fabric store here, where I have access to lots of amazing LSU and Saints themed fabrics that are not readily available, and I would like to share those with people who don't have access. However, I will have tutorials and tips on how to make all of the items I put in my shop.

More than anything I want to share my love of creating, and I never never want to hear anyone say to me again, "You are so creative. I could never do that." If it is something you really want to do, all it takes is a little practice, and a whole lot of Don't buy into the lie of "You can't and You aren't". You can and you are! You may have some mishaps, but this isn't something you can just jump into and expect everything to come out perfect right away....there is so much to learn. It will definately take a while, but before you know it you'll be great at it.

So from now on you are more than welcome to use any of my tutorials to make items to sell. I would love nothing more than for someone to be able to use my designs to help them supplement there income, especially if it helps allow them to stay at home with their kiddos. I just ask that you do me the courtesy of letting me know you intend to use my designs to sell, give me credit for the design in your listing or on a tag when you ship/deliver the item (I will eventually make a logo that can be printed out and provide it to those interested), and please no mass production. Any questions please contact me. And look forward to tons of tutorials! And if Santa is nice enough to bring me the pattern design software I asked for free patterns, too!....I'll let ya' know! ; )

And anytime you start thinking those negative thoughts about yourself, think on this :

Remember dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.
1 Corinthians 1:26-28 NLT

Thanks for all of the cute tutorials..I'm even afraid of doing one of those...YIKES!! I know...I have issues! HA!

I can so relate to this. Growing up my mom and sister were so talented and I always thought that I missed out. Turns out I just hadn't found my niche. Now I have found it in creating cakes. And as I use my gifts and embrace who I am in God, some of the things I couldn't do like mom and my sister I have the confidence to try, but I do it in my own way and thats OK.
Thanks for sharing, by the way I LOVE your ribbon header!
