Can ya help a sista out?!?

...Mine that is.  I am making my sister's prom dress and this is what she wants.  Obviously, it's a little revealing (according to me and my mom anyway...she says, "what you can see anything"...teenagers!)  Anywho, the price tag is pretty steep too.  So I am drafting her a pattern but we are having trouble finding a similar fabric.  I know we won't be able to find the exact fabric, but I have been searching the internet and can't seem to find anything even remotely close.  Anyone have a suggestions or great fabric shops I could check online?  It would be really really helpful!  And I need to get the stones too, so any suggestions/links for that to would be nice.  Thanks guys!

I'm not sure where you're from (or if it's posted on your blog anywhere). I'm guessing from your pictures, you're from somewhere warm and not Boston. I've seen that fabric (or at least very similar fabric) before in a store near me.

Anyway, in the Boston area, we have more than one "discount fabric" store that sells designer fabric after they're finished with it. I don't think either have an online component, but it might be worth doing some google searching for something similar in your area. My favorite is called Sew-fisticated, and I know for sure that they carry fabric just like the one in the picture. It's been very popular for proms the past few years, so they had it last year and I think this year as well.

I don't think fabric like that has really made it to mass online stores yet.

Well, I can't give you fabric ideas but I remember prom dress shopping three years ago and seeing alllll the dresses like that. At least that style has sides!!! I saw some with side/rib cut-outs that looked especially revealing!

But your sister is super lucky to have you make hers! They are so expensive. Mine was $254 bucks. WOWZERS.

Here is one that might have that vibe but I'm not coming up with much either - good luck!
