Doily Dress....your opinions?

When I posted this doily dress I got quite a few requests for a tutorial, which I think is a really great idea, so I started searching etsy for doilies.  At first I wanted to do white ones, but then, I came across this:

Source:  The Chip Chop Shop
Aren't they beautiful!

And I started thinking it might be pretty to do the blue with a yellow underlay.  I even thought about the pink or red with a nude underlay, but I really think the blue and yellow is my favorite.  But then the white is just so classic...I don't know i may have to end up making both.  But, anyway I am just loving the idea of the blue with yellow underlay.  But I know this is going to be a lot of work so before I go running off doing something crazy, what do you guys think?

I love this dress... I love the idea of using a happy color... when I went to the big flea market a month ago they had TONS of doilies all over for cheap! They were worn so would need the dye job, I wish I would have bought an entire box now!

oohhh what a choice. I would probably do red with a black underlay because I love those colors but the blue and yellow would be so springie!

I love all of the colors! As soon as you posted the image of that dress I started working on doilies... 2 down, a billion more to go!

I love the blue/yellow combination. For me, I've started doing dark red doilies. My toss up is between a nude or gold colored underlay... In the end, I don't think it matters. It'll be a one of a kind by me so it'll end up the most special piece I own!

OH, April . . .
It is lovely. I have crocheted doilies like these for many years. I love the different sizes all coming together to make such a pretty dress. I have always told myself I was going to make a bedspread with doilies but never end up doing it. Hmm now you have me thinking again!!

Hmmm. Thats a tough one. I love colorful things but I also LOVE the white one as well! I can't wait to see what you choose!

Wouldn't that be an awesome wedding dress with a baby blue underneath? That way you know the bride is wearing something blue! Can't wait to see the finished result.

I don't think you can go wrong. If you do white you could always dye them later. Blue and yellow would be beautiful too though.
