The Aimee Dress ~ Quick & Easy Girls Halter Dress

Just finished this Aimee Dress by Bonnie Blue Designs.

"Bonnie Blue Designs® offers patterns for sewing classic style clothing for babies and children.  A large selection of styles are available including Heirloom Style and Play Clothes."

This dress is incredibly quick and easy to sew.  I had one complaint, and that was that it skips the understitching of the lining...

I ended up edge stitching around the entire bodice: 1) to keep the lining from coming out  and 2) because it looked a little unfinished to me.

I would HIGHLY recommend this for the novice seamstress!  The instructions are fantastic.  They explain every single detail, and they explain it well!  They basically assume you know nothing...which is what I want in a pattern personally.  A lot of women I know are self taught, and being self taught myself, I know how frustrating it is to pick up a pattern and have no clue what they are talking about.

I love that it is so light!  It's the perfect play dress.

This one will definitely be coming on vacation with us.  It will be great to throw over her bathing suit to go into souvenir shops or into an ice cream shop.

I do sort of feel like somethings missing though, and am considering adding white rickrack to the bottom, but can't decide.  What do you think?  Should I add it?  Any better ideas?

I think it needs a little embellishment. Love the pattern and fabric, though. I may have to make one for my daughter :)

The ric rac would look great, It does need a little something. Done in a bold print it might not. Sort of dress you could have lots of different versions of, i could be very tempted for tiny! x

I've seen that "understich lining" and I don't know what that means. Could you explain that for a novice please?
And I thought the dress was cute but when I scrolled down and saw the ric rack I thought it was adorable!
