Thoughts on the moon...

On the way home tonight, Ian looked out the window and asked why the moon was so bright.  So the homeschooling momma in me kicked in {yes!  great learning opportunity for him}, and I explained to him that the moon actually wasn't bright at all.  It's actually a very dark place with no light of it's own, and what he was seeing was the sun's light reflected in the moon, and then it hit me.

My mind went back to something I read earlier today:
"And thanksgiving only becomes thanksliving when joy in the blessings given from above— overflows into the blessings given all around.
Thanksgiving only becomes thanksliving when the thanks for His vertical, coming-down grace — is expressed as a horizontal, reaching-out grace."

We are like the moon, we have no light of our own.  It's only when we reflect His light, that we can shine...
