***Don't forget to link up to my Sew Crafty Saturday Party!***
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last year when I first started sewing I wanted to make some fleece scarves and when I went to get the fabric the fleece was 50% off. So I thought SCORE! and racked up on the stuff. Little did I know fleece goes on sale like every two weeks and the scarves never got made and long story short I have had a ton of the stuff sucking up space for a year now so, I decided to finally do something with it.
I had already cut out a scarf with the fushia....never sewed it together...yep, that's right a year and I never sewed those three little pieces together....sad right? Anyhow, I really loved the color so I had seen a fleece mini dress a while back on etsy so I figured I could do that. I didn't have a pattern that was what I had in mind so I used one that had a similar bodice and sleeves to what I wanted and made some adjustments....
I used the bodice, sleeves, and collar. I actually cut out the collar about twice the height because I wanted a cowl neck, but there wasn't enough fabric, so I just had to make due...or is it do? Anyway, I cut the sleeves as they were and when I cut the bodice I folded the darts on the pattern pieces before cutting it and just continued down and cut the skirt and bodice as one piece...bumping it out a little at the hips. I took a pic of it but now I can't find it any where.
So here's my dress...
I'm a no shoe kinda girl...not really I was just to lazy to pic a pair...and
Don't laugh at my modeling! We had company when I took these pics and everyone was staring at me...so I felt pretty self concious. Can ya tell from my deer in the headlights expression?
It is pretty snug around my behind, but fleece tends to stretch out after you have been wearing it for a bit and being that the fabric is so bulky I didn't want to end up looking like I was wearing a robe. I think it came out alright...Good enough for the grocery store when it's cold out anyway...
Did you notice the tights? They are leopard print...love em!♥
