Stella Christmas Dress

Okay, I am so seriously in love with this dress!  It's Sophie's Christmas dress made from Izzy & Ivy's new Stella dress pattern.

The skirt took for-evah!!!  oh gosh, but it was sooo worth it in the end!  She looks so cute in it!

Overall, I love the pattern.  There were a couple things I had complaints about.  The only main thing is that in the notions section it says you need 1/2" elastic and in the elastic cutting chart, it says you need 1/4".   I am pretty certain you need 1/4" because I used 3/8" and it barely fit through my casing.  I also couldn't find a seam allowance anywhere.  I looked quite a few times so I don't think I missed it, but I believe it is supposed to be 1/2".  (btw, if I did miss it please feel free to correct me in the comments section).  I also don't like that they always seem to skip telling you to press the seams and how to press them...open, to the back, etc.

At first I was a little confused because there are sooooo many pieces, but it really is a well written pattern, and once I sat down and read through it slowly, the dress is really simple to assemble.  You guys know I love my Izzy & Ivy, and this one definitely did not disappoint.

Although, I am nuts about ruffles, I think my favorite part of this dress is the hem band at the bottom.  I don't know if you can even see it that well in the pics, but it's just one of those fun little added details that the dress could do without and no one would ever think anything of it, but once you've seen it with it, you can't imagine it without it.  I really love it, and I cannot wait till Christmas!

The boys will have matching ties out of the same fabric as the waist band.  I'll be sure to share some pics!  What do you think?  Do you want to run out and make a Stella dress of your own??
